Julia is a plant physiological ecologist whose research has explored the effects of climate change and elevated atmospheric CO2 on ecosystem processes, and the use of stable isotopes to measure plant responses to past climate variability. She has worked in philanthropy and the non-profit sector, with a focus on science education and the interface between science and public policy.
