Regional Climate Projections

Over the past year, regional climate change projections generated by ATMOS Research have been used in the following reports and studies:

  1. Changing Climate in the U.S. Northeast, a report of the Northeast Climate Impacts Assessment (NECIA) – future changes in annual and seasonal temperature and precipitation, extreme heat, heavy rainfall events, and the timing of seasons for the U.S. Northeast under a higher and lower emissions scenario (October 2006)

  2. The Changing Northeast Climate: Our Choices, Our Legacy, a report of the Northeast Climate Impacts Assessment (NECIA) – summer temperatures, number of days over 90oF, state “migrations”, and the timing of seasons for the U.S. Northeast under a higher and lower emissions scenario (October 2006)

  3. Our Changing Climate: Assessing the Risks to California, a report of the California Climate Change Center - future changes in temperature, precipitation, humidity and winds that would affect the severity and frequency of wildfires; changes in sea level, El Nino, and related storminess that would affect coastal areas; and in oppressive heat events that affect human health (July 2006)

  4. The 2006 State of the Rockies Report Card, a report of the Colorado College State of the Rockies Project – projected changes in temperature, precipitation and snowpack that would affect tourism and ecoregions throughout the Rocky Mountain states (June 2006)

  5. Public Health-Related Impacts of Climate Change in California, a report from the California Climate Change Center – projections of changes in extreme heat and oppressive summer heat events with implications for heat-related mortality and air quality (March 2006)

  6. Climate Change in California: Health, Economic and Equity Impacts, a report produced by Redefining Progress for the California Air Resources Board – future changes in average annual and monthly temperatures for individual California counties, to identify socio-economic inequities and increased health risks (January 2006)
